The Court of Thorns and Roses series (ACOTAR for short) is arguably one of the most popular sets of books in the last few years. And I loved the series. Honestly, I read them all within just a couple of weeks.
What is the ACOTAR series about?
A Court of Thorns and Roses is fantasy book meets romance (hiii romantasy genre), is full of magical world-building, high lord s, and your fair share amount of spice. The first book, which is the name sake of the series, is a classical Beauty and the Beast retelling. But after that book, Sarah J Maas really creates a magical new world for readers to get lost in.

This book is a war story with a lot of twist and turns. I did feel like it got a bit long and drawn out in a few parts, but with that, it gave a lot of depth and context to the world Sarah J Maas has built in this series.

A Court of Frost and Starlight Quotes
This book is far shorter than the rest of the series because it is a novella. Personally, I did not love this one. It was fine. A little change of pace from the rest of the series which I understand how some people appreciate. But for me it just missed the mark. Granted, there were still plenty of favorite quotes to pull out for this list!

A Court of Silver Flames Quotes
This is the most recently published book in the series and is from a new point of view. In this book, we follow Nesta and the repercussions of her time in the Cauldron. I loved the witty replies and snarky humor (and my fave night court dude)
But I do have an unpopular opinion-- the sex scenes and spice were too much. I felt like they did not offer much for the storyline other than just amping up the smut factor. I don't mind spicy scenes when they add to the development of the characters and their relationships-- but these just felt repetitive.

What's next for the series?
Sarah J Maas has confirmed a sixth book in the series and that it will follow Elain Acheron, Feyre's older sister. We don't yet have a release date, but fingers crossed for sometime in 2025! It has already been nearly a year since I finished the series and will definitely need a reread before diving back into the world of high lords and high lady!
